I have been abroad. How does the recognition of foreign qualifications work?
After your semester abroad or your return to Karlsruhe, you should send (or bring) the following document by e-mail to the French department head for completion:
The following information is also required for the recognition of achievements abroad:
- Name of the university abroad
- Course title and language level (according to GeR)
- Duration and scope (SWS) of the course
- Content of the course (description)
- Type of certificate of achievement and certificate (with test result or percentage rating)
When and where does registration take place?
Registration takes place online. Information here.
I have to pay for my course. How do I do that?
Directly when you register online (by bank transfer). Cash payment is not possible.
Can I attend more than one French course?
Yes, the 1st language course is free of charge for KIT students, but KIT students have to pay for the 2nd course. (If you pass the exam, you may not attend the same language course twice).
How can I withdraw from a course?
If you can no longer attend a French course (for which you have been accepted), please contact the French department (not the SPZ secretariat) . Unfortunately, there are always students who get a place at the registration and do not show up for the course or block a course place in some other way.
I cannot come to the first appointment. Will I lose my place?
Free participants will be replaced by successors if they are absent without excuse during the first week of the course. Simply send an e-mail to the French department with your name, mat. no. and course title. We will make a note of your details and you will keep your place. However, if you do not show up for the second date (without prior notification), you will be removed from the course immediately.
I am on a waiting list. What do I do?
Please wait for an e-mail from us. You should not show up for the first course date. Experience has shown that there are some changes before the course starts and after the first week of lessons. We make every effort to ensure that all courses are full. If you are on a waiting list and no longer need the place, you should deregister.
How many ECTS points are awarded for the courses?
In general, there are 2 ECTS points per course. For some courses, it is possible to receive 3 ECTS points.
I have already completed a French course or test. Do I still have to take the language test?
Students who need a completed DAAD form or proof of a semester abroad or a visa or similar must take the exam in order to assess their current foreign language level. The Abitur certificate is not sufficient for this.
Students who need to prove that they have successfully completed a French course at the KIT Language Center use their transcript of records from the Campus Management System.
