Registration

The Language Center is now using SignMeUp for course registration. You can currently register here for intensive courses in French, Italian and Spanish.
Further information on registration for intensive English courses will follow soon.

Registration for all semester courses in summer semester 2026 will also take place via SignMeUp.

  1. Find out more
    • Read the detailed information on the language courses on the respective pages for each language. Please note that the letters after the course names (e.g. Italian 1 b) indicate parallel courses (identical level). You therefore do not have to start with the a course.
    • Please also note the intensive courses offered by the SpZ during the semester break. English courses have special conditions, e.g. placement tests (see English pages).
    • KIT students can participate in a maximum of one (1) course per semester free of charge, all other eligible students as well as KIT students who take further courses in this semester are subject to a fee.
  2. Registration priority for students preparing abroad and students of Art History, Ethics and EUKLID
    • Students who are preparing for a stay abroad can be given priority for enrolment in courses if they can provide appropriate proof (e.g. a letter from the sending institute). The same applies to students of EUKLID (current Imma certificate), Ethics (Latin only, current Imma certificate) and Art History (Italian, current Imma certificate). These certificates must be uploaded when registering. Students who have applied for a semester abroad via IStO/INTL do NOT need to send proof. IStO will send us a current complete list. Please pay by bank transfer BEFORE the course starts.
  3. General online registration
    • Note: expected from 13.04.2026. Further information on registration will follow.
      You can apply for a maximum of 2 courses. Places will be allocated by lottery at the end of the registration period. Please note, however, that we limit the number of applicants per course to a maximum of 3 times the permitted course size in order to guarantee a real chance of a lottery place. After the lottery, automatic emails will be sent with a time delay. Please refrain from telephone inquiries. If you wish to unsubscribe from a course, you can do this yourself via the registration portal.
      If you have any queries, please contact the respective department heads(English, French, Spanish) or the secretary's office for all other languages.
    • If you are a KIT student and have been assigned to 2 courses: If you deregister from your tuition-free course, the tuition-based course will automatically be set to 'free'. You do not have to do anything else.
    • Registration is compulsory for all courses.
  4. How to pay
    • Who can pay? KIT students with more than one course (in this semester!) and all other registered students are liable to pay fees.
    • When? You will receive an e-mail after the lottery (with a time delay) informing you of the payment obligation (bank transfer). Please include all the information requested in our e-mail in the reference field
      • If you have any questions about the proof that can lead to a reduction (50%) according to the statutes (e.g. valid or provisional BAFöG notifications etc.), please contact the secretary's office.
  5. Attendance
    • The courses start in the 2nd week of lectures(from April 27, 2026) and run until the official end of the KIT semester. Please refer to the homepage for any exceptions.
    • If the minimum number of participants is not reached (beginner courses: 10, advanced courses: 7), the course is usually canceled. You will then be informed by e-mail.
