Registration for the UNIcert® II - IV exams

To obtain the UNIcert® II, III or IV certificate, you must take an examination. We currently offer examinations in "General Academic English" and in the specialist language "Science and Technology".

UNIcert® II - IV examinations

The exams are activity-oriented and are based on different topics and case studies each semester. The focus is therefore not on the ability to remember vocabulary or grammar rules, but on the ability to use your English skills.

The next exams will be offered in March 2026. Registration will take place via ILIAS from the end of January.

UNIcert® II examination procedure

Candidates will be tested on speaking, reading, writing and listening skills, with tasks linked by a general examination theme. The exam usually takes place from 10.00 to 12.50.

10.00 - 10.30 a.m.: Listening Comprehension

10.35 - 11.25 a.m.: Reading Comprehension

11.30 - 12.20: Writing

from 12.30 p.m.: Speaking*

* The duration of the exam is approx. 20 minutes. The respective exam times will be assigned after the registration deadline.

UNIcert® III examination procedure

Candidates are tested on speaking, reading, writing and listening skills, with tasks linked by a general examination topic. The exam usually takes place from 09.00 to 14.00*.

09.00 - 09.40: Listening Comprehension

09.45 - 10.30: Reading Comprehension

10.35 - 11.20 a.m.: Case Study

11.20 - 12.50: Report / Written task

From 13.30: Presentations*

* The oral exam usually takes place in groups of two/three. The examination lasts 30 minutes. The respective examination times will be allocated after the registration deadline.

UNIcert® IV examination procedure

Tasks linked by a general examination topic. The exam usually takes place from 09.00 to 15.00*.

09.00 - 10.00: Listening Comprehension

10.05 - 11.35 a.m.: Reading Comprehension

11.40 - 12.25: Case Study

12.45 - 14.15: Report / Written task

From 14.30: Presentations*
